How Our Practice Works
Much of our practice is based on Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). This is a treatment that was initially created to help high risk individuals such as those who are suicidal or might behave in other ways that might harm themselves. There are several components to DBT, including individual therapy, DBT skills training in mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotion regulation, interpersonal relationships and middle path skills which help patients balance acceptance and change. DBT Skills coaching is also available between sessions and weekly group sessions involving the family of patients is available. Learn more about the DBT Skills Groups we offer.
Group Therapy & DBT Skills Groups
Group therapy can also be an important element to DBT treatment. In addition to our multi-family DBT skills groups, we also offer
Our practice accepts several large insurance plans including: Oxford, United Healthcare, UBH, UMR, and OSCAR. If we do not take your insurance, we can provide you with a superbill that you can submit for out-of-network benefits. You can start on the road to treatment by calling our office and providing us with some basic information. Contact us today or schedule an appointment below.
Upcoming Workshop Events
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) Mindfulness Skills to be held on August 8, 2020.
When working with highly emotional and high-risk patients, mindfulness skills play a critical role in helping to regulate intense emotions.
In this workshop, Dr. Lehnert will teach participants how to identify three states of Mind: Emotion Mind, Reasonable Mind, and Wise Mind.
You will also learn skills to help patients learn to control their own minds rather than be emotionally hijacked. Participants will also learn skills to observe and stop urges to engage in high risk and problem behaviors.
For more information or to sign up for the workshop, please RSVP through EventBrite.
